Turning the Faithful
Skirmish Battle
Slaanesh’ way of war is unlike the brutal destruction of his brother Khorne. As the forces of the Daemon Prince spread out from the Raven’s Nest, they know they do not have the strength to overwhelm the Empire armies or the ravenous forces of the Khornate Lord. So, they seek another way.
Crafting Temptators from the bones and talismans of fallen Empire soldiers killed at the Raven’s nest, the Daemon Prince means to sway the men of the Empire to his own cause. If he can place these sorcerous objects in the homes of those who control the Empire forces, he can sway these forces to his banner.
This battle can be fought as many times as required, each representing the unnoticed struggle for supremacy occurring across Morr’s lands. Note each time a Temptator is successfully placed.
Battlefield
The battlefield represents one of the numerous small villages and towns in the countryside surrounding the Raven’s Nest. It should consist of several small buildings. The table is 4”x4”. After deployment, the GM should randomly determine which of the buildings is the home of the burgomaster.
Deployment
The Empire deploys half its forces within 6” of the centre of the table. The other half are concealed in the buildings (the Empire player should note where each of these models are).
Once the Empire player has deployed his troops, the Chaos player may deploy anywhere within 6” of any table edge.
First Turn
The Chaos player has the first turn.
Special Rules
Temptator
The Temptator is a small totem that once planted will turn the will of the chosen victim to Chaos. The Chaos player secretly nominates one of their models to bear the Temptator: this must be delivered to the house of the burgomaster. The chaos player wins if they can enter the home of the burgomaster and leave the Temptator there. To do this, the model with the Temptator must be in the burgomaster’s home alone.
Night Raid
The Chaos raid occurs in the dark of night. Roll a D6 at the start of the game. This is the number of turns that will be completed before it is light enough to see clearly. Until this moment, no figure can see more than 10”, and so will not be able to declare charges or shoot beyond this range.
The exception to this rule is that Chaos forces may charge into any figure that is inside a building, as it will be clear that someone is inside. Concealed Empire forces cannot be charged in this way until they are revealed.
Hidden Strength
Empire models that are not deployed on the table count as concealed until they move, shoot or declare a charge. Place the model on the table at this point.
